At a young age my love for massage grew when I realized not only was I naturally talented with massage but I could also make people feel good. I could make people feel good physically, mentally and emotionally through comforting touch, which ultimately affects their overall health.
I recently attended (NHI) National Holistic Institute College of Massage Therapy. Learning a variety of modalities from Western modalities;such as Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, as well as Eastern modalities; such as Shiatsu and Acupressure massage. The program NHI offers is a 900 hour program that includes working on the public through the schools on-site clinic for over 100 hours and 72 hours for externship completion at a massage site off-campus. This experience gave me the oppurtunity to work with a wide range of clients. I truly enjoyed my experience at NHI, from the knowledge I received, to the classmates I bonded with and the teachers I learned from.
As a practicing meditator for years, I believe it is important to involve meditation in each session. For you that may simply mean deep breathing throughout the massage. I like to address my clients problem areas and also let my intuition guide me to the exact origin of tension and every point that it extends to. Each client is able to choose their preffered modality or I can do an assesment of their body and see exactly which form of massage they need for maximum tension relief and relaxation. Creating results in my clients bodies and a peaceful mind is my ultimate goal!
